Tend Open Day - An alias partnership commission.
Sat 16th August 2008 10am - 4pm. Trewidden Garden , nr Newlyn, Cornwall.

TEND is an ongoing project by artists Jane Ansell & David Patont that began in 2007 as a yearlong research residency at Trewidden Garden near Penzance in Cornwall. The garden is an important example of the links between industrial expansion and horticultural research witnessed in the South West of England throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. Over the course of the residency the two sheds, that we sited in the garden, evolved to become studio, archival space and artwork.

The open day is an opportunity to network and discuss the project with the artists.Come along at any time from 10.30am for an informal discussion with the artists and visit the gardens.

Picnic & Conversation [drinks and light snacks] 2pm
This will be an opportunity for a group conversation in the Walled Garden about the processes and issues raised during the TEND project. Some of the points to covered include:
Establishing a relationship with a location. What are the benefits and disadvantages of working with a single location for a sustained timescale? Generating work for the gallery from site based projects.Exchange.Participate in an ongoing project.People and Plants : Tracing the social and geographical history of plants.
