Artsite acts as a platform for the visual and creative arts through the use of artist run affordable studio space, operating as a non-profit making organisation.
It aims to:
• Raise the quality and awareness of the visual arts by education, workshops, exhibitions and the development of new techniques.
• Promote contemporary arts within the community, so developing alliances and new audiences.
• Encourage artistic and creative talents regardless of ethnicity, class, cultural background or disability.
ArtSite studio consists of individual artist areas and a community / project work area. Adjacent to the ArtSite studio are the forge and ceramics workshops of the Octobus Project, ArtSite's host. Our partnership with Octobus gives ArtSite access to these facilities.
Artsite sees itself as a part of the regeneration of central Swindon. It's remit to advance the arts and culture, and to make them available to a wider audience has prompted work with The Community Crossroads and town centre management team. Our connection with Alias has led to the development of our present strategy of promoting of arts and culture within the community of central Swindon and in developing alliances and new audiences.
