Aletheia
Region: Gloucestershire | City: Cheltenham

Aletheia {Greek} unconcealment; ‘An uncovering of beings in their essence.’ (Martin Heidegger)
So much of who we are is hidden, concealed from others, concealed sometimes from ourselves. By connecting with what is hidden we can come to discover the essence of who we are.
Utilising the mediums of film, photography, writing and installation Aletheia’s mission is to undertake ‘issue’ based visual arts projects that reveal what is concealed.
Through acting as catalyst Aletheia asks its audience to connect with the hidden within themselves, within one another and within society, promoting dialogue and instigating positive social change.
Aims
To create innovative visual arts projects that reveal, stimulate and challenge.
To engage people from various sectors of society
To promote dialogue and affect positive social change
To pursue professional development through research, mentoring, collaborations, residencies and further training.
Current projects
Integral to Aletheia’s work is the notion of collaboration as a means to further develop and enhance our creative practise:
We are currently working on a large scale installation entitled ‘Surface’ along with sound project ‘Phased Reality’. Coinciding with this we will be launching an online forum – serving as a repository for the project as well as a space for continuing dialogue.
The second edition of our artists Zine entitled 'Lost and Found' is due for publication later in the year. We are currently calling for submissions, click below for more info:
