 Women's Work?

What is the relationship between women artists making contemporary art, and feminist theory?
Is it important for artists to clearly state their intentions, to place work within a feminist context?
If they don’t, then what happens when someone else does?
What are the implications of working as a women artist and how is work interpreted?
What does feminism mean to people now?

Guest speaker Fran Cottell, presented Shifting Focus: Alternative Perspectives to Main Stream thinking by Women Artists. Looking at historical perspectives of feminist practices, and issues, as well as personal experience, she examined a number of questions and concerns with an opportunity for debate.

Bait is an ongoing series of seminars organised by Art Surgery, and supported by alias.
Women's Work seminar was a collaboration with Delpha Hudson & the front room projects at Salt Gallery.
