58 Processions

58 Processions is a large-scale sound installation in St Pancras’ Church crypt.This is the UK premier of a collaborative project by artists Duncan Whitley and James Wyness.The labyrinthine passageways of the crypt act as the space for a re-interpretation of Seville’s Holy Week processions. Guided by sound, audiences are encouraged to explore the space as drum marches, brass bands, tolling bells and the feet of marching penitents process through the crypt’s darkened corridors.

The space will be animated by moments of loudness and profound quiet in turn, characterised by an austerity of presentation and a richness of listening experience.Opening event.

The opening event will feature a premiere live performance of 58 Processions, incorporating a selection of Tomas Louis de Victoria’s ‘Tenebrae Responsaries’, sung by Londinium Choir.Friday 8 August7 – 9pm. Performance starts at 7.30pm.

Tickets for the opening event must be booked in advance from the Measure website. The tickets will be issued on a first come basis and the event is pay what you wish on the door.
