Paul Harper
I am a woodworker, living and working in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire. My practice ranges from small private commissions to large public art schemes but has always been about a commitment to my material and to making. In addition to my making practice I have extensive experience in arts management.
I am currently working on a PhD, looking at critical contexts for craft, and exploring the potential of digital video as a methodological tool to aid the analysis of craft practice.
I have worked with a number of alias groups in a variety of situations and over the last year have organised and chaired a series of symposia called practice and reflection. The series aims to foster a critical community in which makers feel comfortable, in which they can engage positively with critical debate about craft and in which they are encouraged to articulate their practice.
